Tortuga Lodge & Gardens is located on the northeast coast of Costa Rica,47.5 km away from the Nicaraguan border. The lodge is in the middle of the jungle. You will be warmly received here by the staff known as courteous, friendly and helpful.
There are four types of rooms. All rooms have their own shower with sun-heated water, a ceiling fan, a locker, free WiFi and a porch with hammock. No air conditioning. The restaurant serves a daily menu for lunch, dinner chooses à la carte. All dishes are prepared with the freshest local ingredients. You can see that chef Federico Barrantes and the local chefs are very adept at their craft. Here is cooked with love.
Take your time for the beautiful gardens of Tortuga Lodge in Caribbean plantation style. These vast gardens lie between the tropical rainforest and the Tortuguero River. You can take part for free in the morning walk accompanied by a Tortuguero naturalist. Most likely you will see various tropical bird species, howler monkeys, iguanas, crocodiles, caimans, lizards of any size and shape, macaws, toucans, sloths, poisonous dart frogs and more.

There is an awful lot to do in the area. To name but a few: a boat trip with a local naturalist, kayaking in Tortuguero N.P., a turtle-nesting expedition with picnic. Alternate with a day out enjoying the lodge and the lovely pool.
