Versatile landscapes full of wildlife
Mexico is a true paradise for nature lovers. Due to the difference in temperature in the various regions of Mexico, it has a great variety of flora and fauna. The size of the country makes it nearly impossible to reveal all of its natural beauty, but below are some of our favorite natural areas.
A must-see experience is the annual migration of the Monarch butterflies. Each fall this king of butterflies flies by the millions from the United States to Mexico where they winter on the steep slopes of the Sierra Madre, a beautiful sight!
Huasteca 's tropical rainforest is home to more than 2,000 plant species and is home to a wide range of animal species such as parrots, monkeys, owls, toucans, jaguars, deer, many reptiles and insects.
Keep your eyes and ears open for howler monkeys and hummingbirds among the legacy of the Maya at National Park of Palenque. Visit natural park Isla Contoy in the far south of Yucatan to spot birds. More than 150 different bird species live here, including the brown pelican, frigate and American cormorant. The island is also a breeding ground for both the sea turtle and the Carreta Carreta. Or look for flamingos in the Celestun Biosphere Reserve. Explore the colorful underwater world with a chance to meet dolphins or spot sea lions and maybe even a whale in Loreto Bay. Dive among the corals of Marieta Islands and admire animals besides tropical fish impressive octopuses or giant manta rays.
