Floating among salt
A trip to Jordan without a visit to the iconic Dead Sea is not complete. Floating in the Dead Sea; it is a unique experience you will never forget.
A million and a half years ago, the Dead Sea was still completely covered by the ocean. An earthquake created the Jordan Valley and formed lakes in lower-lying areas. As a result of the very dry and hot climate, the water evaporates, leaving salt and other minerals behind. Thus was born the legendary "Dead Sea," which owes its name to the fact that no fish or other animals live in the water with a salinity as high as 33%. At 420 meters below sea level, it is the lowest place on earth. Without any effort, you stay afloat on the water here, a special and almost unreal experience. The Dead Sea also contains 40 different minerals which along with the high salt content provides a cleansing effect for your skin.
