Green oasis in the desert
In the South of Jordan lies a green oasis between the vast sandy plains: the Dana Nature Reserve . Bird species such as Griffon Vulture, Goshawk Eagle, Lesser Kestrel, Blue Rock Thrush and Asiatic Partridge fly around this exceptional mountain area. Among the many plant species is the Iris, the national flower of Jordan . Many animal species such as Nubian Ibex, amphibians and reptiles also inhabit the vast reserve.
From the spectacularly located mountain village dana different walks are possible. Accompanied by a professional guide you can make beautiful trips to Wadi Dana or Wadi Ghuweir . You walk through a constantly changing landscape, follow small shimmering streams, cross narrow red-orange colored gorges and climb rocks. The hanging gardens full of ferns and palm trees are the ideal resting place at the end of the walk.
