GOLDEN HEART CITY
Although the gold rush in Alaska was only relatively short-lived, it has put Fairbanks on the map once and for all as Golden Heart City. Thanks to the Chena River and a railway line, Fairbanks became Alaska's second city. Fairbanks is now also accessible via two highways. A modern city with the allure of a metropolis, and yet it lies in the middle of the wilderness. Here you can enjoy the best of both worlds, with many facilities, culture and entertainment options, and numerous opportunities to discover nature from the Golden Heart City.
AURORA BOREALIS
Fairbanks is located 190 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle. In the winter months you can see the impressive Northern Lights here during clear nights! From the city you can take part in all kinds of winter activities, such as a dog sled tour. After that, it is wonderful to warm up in a hot spring. How different is life in the short summer, when the sun hardly sets and the landscape is green. Venture out in a kayak during the day, take a spectacular raft ride, or take a round trip, to return to the comforts of Fairbanks in the evening. Or choose to travel further, to that other world north of the Arctic Circle. You're almost there!
