Perfect for expedition cruises to remote islands
The s/v 'Rembrandt van Rijn was built early last century as a Haring logger. The ship was rebuilt in 1994 in the Netherlands into a three-masted passenger schooner and has previously sailed to Spitsbergen and the Galapagos. The ship was completely rebuilt and renovated in 2011, making it ideally suited for expedition cruises to Arctic islands and for whale safaris. It offers plenty of deck space with good viewing opportunities, even under sail.
Shore excursions
There are 2 zodiacs, stable dinghies, available to put passengers ashore for making beautiful guided walks and for making zodiac cruises, explorations by zodiac. Shore excursions are planned each day, weather and ice conditions permitting. The hikes will average 3 to 6 hours and go over pristine terrain; there are few hiking trails in the Arctic. A flexible attitude is important on board; regularly the program and walks are adjusted according to the, for example, weather conditions, the ice situation or the wishes of the passengers. Ample time is devoted to wildlife, vegetation, geography and history. On board, lectures are given or documentaries are shown.
