Expedition cruise to a dazzling natural phenomenon
The moon's shadow approaches from the north of Greenland at a speed of 4,000 kilometers per hour.
At 5:40 p.m., the first rays slide past the lunar disk to create the legendary "Diamond Ring."
On this expedition cruise, experience one of the most dazzling natural phenomena in one of the world's most spectacular destinations: wild East Greenland.
The best possible location has been selected for this eclipse, the mouth of a small fjord as close to the centerline of the eclipse as possible, unobstructed by mountains and with likely clear skies.
With Zodiacs, you will go ashore to experience this natural wonder in the rugged wilderness. Where the world can't find you ...
Greenland, the most awe-inspiring destination
Next, the Ocean Albatross southward along the most dramatic coastlines. While sailing, keep your eyes on the sea! Belugas, blue whales, bowhead whales, minke whales, narwhals, seals and a huge variety of Arctic bird species are common in these waters. Snow hares, polar bears and reindeer forage along the remote shores. Several fjords are visited, such as the stunning Skjoldungen, where sawtooth mountains with opalescent glaciers line the deep, chilly waters. Evighedsfjorden extends about 100 km into the glacier-covered mountains and cuts through the great ice sheet that covers much of the land between Nuuk and Sisimiut - Greenland's largest cities. Tasermiut is one of Greenland's best-kept secrets, fringed by green, fertile side valleys and steep granite walls that rise 2,000 meters above sea level. After a zodiac landing, an easy hike allows you to experience this amazing landscape for yourself.
