Round trip Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicagarua and Costa Rica
A very varied trip through 4 Central American countries where you decide whether to book cultural, nature or community based excursions. With a pre-tour to Mayan city Tikal in Guatemala or a beach stay in Costa Rica you can complete your trip completely as you wish.
Maya in Guatemala
The journey starts in the highlands of Guatemala. Around the beautiful Atitlán Lake and at the traditional market of Chichicastenango, you will meet various Indian tribes descended from the ancient Mayans who are distinguished by their colorful clothing and their own language. In this volcanic highlands is also the very charming colonial town of Antigua, the ancient capital of Guatemala. You will travel on to El Salvador and stay in colonial Suchitoto near the beautiful Suchitlan Lake. From there you will travel further partly by speedboat to the "off the beaten track" Nicaragua.
Colonial pearls in Nicaragua
Granada and León are colonial gems where you can feast your eyes. But the greatest attraction of Nicaragua is probably the charm, authenticity and hospitality of its proud and lively inhabitants. Ometope Island in the great Lake Nicaragua is home to two immense volcanoes and is both an extraordinary natural and cultural experience. You will conclude in green Costa Rica; staying in the relatively small but tranquil Rincon de la Vieja National Park, named after the still active volcano in the park.
