Yucatan Peninsula
Yucatan Peninsula is one of the most famous regions of Mexico. This part of Mexico is located next to Chiapas and borders Belize and Guatemala. Yucatan is best known for the Riviera Maya. Thousands of kilometres of coastline on the Caribbean sea. The pearly white sandy beaches and crystal clear Caribbean coast attracts many visitors every year in seaside resorts like Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Off the coast is the idyllic dream island Isla Holbox. Yucatan has more to offer: ancient Mayan ruins of which Chichen Itza and Tulum are the most famous, a vast rainforest, underground rivers and caves and stately colonial cities such as Merida. Until the middle of the last century, Yucatan was known for its henequen plantations; many of these haciendas have been transformed into luxury hotels; we highly recommend staying in one of them.
