Witch market and Pre-Inca treasures in the desert
Stroll the mysterious Mercado de Brujas,the witch market in Chiclayo where countless herbs and medicines are for sale and local shamans do their shopping. The area is known for its huge adobe, a type of clay, erected temples. Be surprised by the 26 colossal pyramids of Tucume. Further on, the finds in the tomb of the Lord of Sipan are considered one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. Come face to face with this grave full of gold from a distinguished priest from Moche culture.
Trujillo
Trujillo is characterized by a beautifully preserved colonial centre with still beautifully intact houses, churches, monasteries, squares and streets. A short distance away are the pre-Inca treasures in the desert near Chan Chan,once the largest mud city in the world and an important archaeological monument of the Chimu civilization. In the nearby fishing town of Huanchaco you can see the so-called 'caballitos de totora', small narrow boats made of reeds, fishing boats, just as they used to be used. In the local restaurants is to enjoy the delicious ceviche, raw fish cooked in juice of citrus fruits.
