A special journey with attention to the rich Peruvian gastronomy. From the north coast, a spectacular drive takes you to the green valleys around Cajamarca, one of the best preserved colonial cities in Peru. Before reaching Cajamarca, you will travel to Trujillo, with a beautifully preserved colonial center, and Chiclayo.
The high Andes and the edge of the Amazon
After crossing the high Andes, you will arrive in one of the most fascinating regions of the north, Chachapoyas, accessible only by mountain roads surrounded by cloud forests. Here you will find magnificent ancient ruins of the civilization of the Chachapoyas ("people of the clouds"). The most famous of these is Kuélap, an impressive stone fortress built on a rocky mountain peak. The complex is very reminiscent of the famous Machu Picchu near Cuzco. The views are fantastic.
