The mysterious volcanic Easter Island is one of the most isolated islands in the world. It is known for its beautiful refined sculptures and other relics from moai culture. The magical statues are divided into groups across the island, some of them unfinished. Little is known about how and why. The Polynesian island with its beautiful beach and coral reefs is Chilean but the name owes the island to the Dutchman Jacob Roggeveen who discovered the island on Easter Sunday in 1722.
