The Plantation District
A visit to Commewijne, also called the plantation district, should not be missed in a trip to Suriname. The district is adjacent to Paramaribo,connected by the great Wijdenbosch bridge over the Suriname River. The area has plenty to offer to stay a few days. Visit the former plantations, meet the friendly locals and enjoy the rustic atmosphere in the villages.
