In September 2022, Joris and Sofie traveled to game-rich Botswana for a roundtrip that saw them successively visit Chobe National Park, the iconic Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve and the Makgadikgadi Pans before ending their adventure in Maun.

Best,

A few days ago we returned home after our trip to Botswana.

It turned out to be a very nice trip with much more wildlife than we had dared to expect!

Our concerns about missing our connection in Zurich on the outward journey were unjustified, although we did arrive in Kasane without our luggage. However, the management at the Ngoma safari lodge made every effort to track down our bags through their connections at Airlink, and the lodge manager was even willing to go "shopping" with us. The latter turned out to be unnecessary in the end, because in the afternoon of Day 2 we were allowed to go pick up our luggage at the airport.

The program of the trip was well organized (not too short and not too long in the same place) and the transfers with the small charter planes were also smooth.

The lodges themselves were not particularly luxurious (especially the room in Leroo La Tau was rather basic), but that was more than made up for by the very nice atmosphere, personal approach and very friendly and enthusiastic staff. We also greatly appreciated being able to dine privately. Where we had expected only a table apart, a super romantic and secluded spot was prepared for us each time, complete with candlelight! We were also positively surprised by the quality and especially the variety of the cuisine, taking into account the very remote locations of the lodges and the fact that everything has to be flown in. Our 2 favorite lodges were Ngoma safari lodge and Camp Moremi. We also enjoyed Thamo Telele very much. By the way, that was also the only lodge where we used the pool. In fact, those of the other lodges did not look so inviting (brown water...).

As for the extras: we found the sleep-out at Camp Okavango a fine experience, but the one in Makgadikgadiwas something that will stay with us forever. The desolation and especially the sunset and sunrise were fantastic. What we would have liked to have known beforehand, however, is that you can also go there by helicopter instead of by car. We heard about the possibility of this on the spot and since many other guests found it quite a tough drive (4 hours there and 4 hours back on a bumpy road), we opted for the air, which added that much more to the unique experience.

Also, the helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta was unforgettable with beautiful images of the wildlife below!

To summarize, we are (again) very satisfied with this trip with Untamed traveling, we are still enjoying and yet also already looking forward to our next trip with you to Vietnam & Cambodia in February.

Thank you!

Regards,

Joris & Sofie
