Wildlife Patagonia and Pantanal

Pumas in Chile and jaguars in Brazil

This tour will take you to the best places in South America to spot the rare pumas and jaguars. First, you will travel to Torres del Paine, Chile, where the puma's hunting grounds are located in the eastern part of the park. This area is known to contain one of the highest concentration of pumas in the wild. You will then travel to the vast wetlands of the Pantanal, Brazil, where your stay will be 100% dedicated to jaguar spotting. For the Pantanal, the dry season (August - October) is the best period with the highest probability of jaguar spotting (95%!). For Torres del Paine, early in the season or late in the season is the most likely to spot the puma (season: October - April ). So October & November for 'the best of both worlds'!

Your stay in the Pantanal

We offer several options for a stay in the Pantanal. The Araras Lodge offers an extensive menu of activities focused on the special flora and fauna. It is excellent for birdwatchers, you can canoe to your heart's content and there are special walks at sunrise and sunset. You can combine your stay at the Araras Lodge with a stay at Porto Joffre where special boat trips are organized aimed at spotting the jaguar. There is also the Piuval Lodge, an old cattle ranch with horses and cows of no less than seven thousand acres. You can combine your stay at the Piuval Lodge with a stay at the Jaguar Ecological Reserve to complete your nature experience.
