Zimbabwe clockwise
Zimbabwe is at the forefront of the world when it comes to nature conservation, and that's exactly what you're reaping this trip!
After a stopover in Lusaka, make a spectacular entrance into Mana Pools by speedboat after a road transfer. A small week and many game drives, river cruises, canoe tours, nature walks and bird excursions continue the journey to the pristine Gonarezhou National Park, one of Zimbabwe's best hidden secrets in Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park on the border with Mozambique. Here everything is a bit bigger; the lions, the tusks of the elephants... Also leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, wild dogs, zebras and a number of antelope species are regularly found here and even the Nyala and the little Suni. There are no roads, paths or fences here. Nature can go about its business here indefinitely.
A few days later, you'll fly to Hwange, "Wankie National Park", Zimbabwe's oldest, largest and most wild-rich park on the border with Botswana. The large herds of elephants, buffaloes and zebras will almost certainly have you to yourself.
Two hours away and you are at the impressive Victoria Falls, one of the seven wonders of the world and an absolute must-see in Zimbabwe! The way to end the journey as you started it; in spectacular fashion!
Tips & tops of Zimbabwe:
- You will stay in more than comfortable small-scale safari lodges throughout the trip
- The guides are without exception professionally trained and English-speaking
- You will spend time in Mana Pools, an area of beautiful nature and home to many animal species; from cheetahs and baboons to hippos and crocodiles. In addition, you can explore part of the park (with big game) unaccompanied; unique in Zimbabwe!
- You'll visit the Chilojo Cliffs, red sandstone rock faces in Gonarezhou National Park
- Although Hwange National Park is easily accessible, due to the sheer size and spread of the lodges, it is very unlikely that you will encounter other visitors to the park during your safaris
- Many activities are possible at the Victoria Falls; go rafting on the spectacular rapids, bungy jumping or take a flight by ultralight plane over the waterfall
