Tsika Island Zambia

I would like to take you to one of the special projects in Africa, Tsika Island Camp. As an Africa specialist, we try to work with African partners who support local community and nature projects and find accommodations that create jobs for the local population.

A good example is the Tsika Island Camp in the Lower Zambezi River in Zambia. Since 2010, Chongwe River Camp has opened this camp on beautiful Tsika Island. There is only room for six guests in three bush rooms, each with private facilities. Guests can take part in a 2 to 5-day canoe safari on the Lower Zambezi from Tsika Island Camp.

CAR Bangui

Bangui Plage, a place to be!

Travelling in Central Africa is not for everyone. Days pass without electricity, without cooling, without comfort. For me personally, as an avid adventurer, Central Africa is a true paradise.Bangui is the capital of the unknown ” Central Africanrepublic“. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be ambushed by handy foefelaars who will immediately try to guide you to a taxi or other vehicle. Keep calm, take everything with a grain of salt and leave for Ledger palace hotel. A large-scale hotel, but a real pleasure to stay in the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel has a very good service, beautiful pool (only of the city) internet and other western comforts.

Koro River Camp

A true wilderness experience

Blessed with some of the greatest natural spectacles on earth, Botswana is one of the most exquisite safari destinations in Africa. It is perhaps the most beautiful region for seeing predators and big game in droves that you can follow during exclusive game drives, mokoro tours, hiking safaris and boat trips. Botswana beckons!

Sao Tomé and Principe, Where the world can’t find you

At the beginning of October, Africa specialist Mariëtte Boomsma will accompany our top travel agents on the annual Untamed Travelling tour to the tropical Sao Tomé en Principe, a destination that hardly anyone from the group has heard of. They are two small islands about 250 km from the African west coast. Together they form the second smallest country in Africa. Sao Tomé is about 850 km2 and Principe less than 150 km2. It was ‘discovered’ by the Portuguese around the 15th century and became independent in 1975. From Europe, only the TAP Air Portugal flies to this destination, so few tourists – especially Portuguese – go.

Australia

Australia, from Outback to Wetlands

Australia has always made a tough and rugged impression on me. The world’s largest island is a continent full of contrasts. The vast landscapes and long distances are in stark contrast to those of the Netherlands or Europe. The land of Skippy, the Flying Doctors and Crocodile Dundy is fascinating because of its diversity of nature, climate and history. I visit the cities of Sydney, Adelaide and Darwin, the Outback in the south and the Wetlands in the north.

BLOG HOLIDAY FAIR 2020

Prize rain Trade day drinks

Like every year on the Trade Day, Untamed also made a big deal this year. During the anniversary edition of the Holiday Fair, the stand of partner Visit Rwanda went off from 13:00. After a word of welcome, a toast to the New Year and the announcement of the destinations of the upcoming study trips – South India, Namibia and Guatemala – attendees were overwhelmed by a price rain of travel, ranging from a luxury stay on a paradise island to a self-drive ‘Where the world can’t find you’.

Family trip South Africa

Family trip South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique

We travel with the whole family – my parents, brother and sister-in-law, my husband and our children – off to Africa. Wildlife safaris in South Africa and Botswana and a sun-drenched beach resort on Mozambique await us. Because we are with a rather large company, the choice for private villas is quickly made.

Art in the Bush – the varnish

Earlier this year, Rens Lipsius and Lieselotte Verbruggen left for the Zimbabwean bush to gain inspiration and create local awareness for conservation and protection; Art in the Bush, a prestigious initiative of Untamed Travelling in collaboration with African Bush Camps. The versatile work of the artists they made after their return was exhibited last Friday – after a soft launch in a Parisian gallery – and offered for sale in the Pulitzer’s packed Garden Room in Amsterdam.
