Treks in the Hoggar
North of Tamanrasset lies the Hoggar Mountains, a real stone desert consisting of granite formations that take on beautiful red colours at sunrise and sunset. The average height is more than 900 meters above sea level. The highest peak, Mount Tahat, is 3003 meters high. The Assekrem is a famous and often visited place, where Père de Foucauld lived as a hermit in the summer of 1905. The Hoggar Mountains is a beautiful area for trekking. Mountaineers can enjoy themselves here.
