Endless desert landscapes

Namibia is a land of deserts. Most famous are the Namib desert with its red sand dunes Sossusvlei and the Kalahari desert. Bushmen still live in the latter, the first inhabitants with the oldest culture on earth. They are known for the beautiful petroglyphs like the one at Brandberg and Twyfelfontein . You may also encounter desert elephants. The Himbas live on the savannas of the northwest, semi-nomads who are distinguished by their clothing, hairstyles and jewelry. Here you will also find Etosha National Park, situated around an immense salt pan where you can see the 'big five'. It is just as special Waterberg Plateau Par k, located on a huge rocky plateau. Another special natural phenomenon is the Fish River Canyo n, the second largest ravine in the world. The colorful buildings in the seaside town of Swakopmund and the harbor town of Walvis Bay are reminders of colonial times. It once started with Cape Cross , where thousands of fur seals now live. From there stretches the Skeleton Coast, dominated by sand and shipwrecks. An unparalleled natural spectacle.
