During this tour you will explore two beautiful parks inGabon : Loango and Pongara. Loango National Park,Called 'the last Eden of Africa' by explorer Mike Fay, is a unique park where diverse landscapes come together. Vast forests and savannahs alternate with wetlands, lagoons and ocean. The animal life is also special and varies from forest elephants, forest buffalos and hippos to lowland gorillas, sitatungas and brush pigs. The coast also contains one of the largest concentrations of whales and dolphins. Pongara National Park offers pristine white sand beaches that invite you to relax, also offers an enormous variety of animals, both on land and in the ocean.
Tips & tops Round trip Loango-Pongara:
- Explore the last paradise on earth Loango National Park by boat, car or on foot
- Trekking to a family of habituated lowland gorillas
- Whale watching possible from mid-July to mid-September: the humpback whales often jump spectacularly high from the water near the boat during this period
- Spot elephants and buffalo that come to the coast from the rainforests in the rainy season (mid-October to May) and can be admired by the beach
- During the dry season, mid-May to October, the animals migrate further south, to forests and large open places (bai's) that are not accessible during the rainy season due to high water
- Depending on your travel period, you will spend the night in one of the satellite camps, so that you are guaranteed to see a lot of wildlife
- Enjoy a stay at Louri River Camp in the rainy season or Akaka Forest Camp in the dry season
- Relax on the beautiful beaches of the Pongara National Park
- Take an excursion to see the turtles hatching their eggs on the beach between November and February
- In the dry season, Pongara National Park also offers wonderful whale and other marine excursions
