The oldest city in the world
The capital of Armenia Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world, located on the Hrazdan River and surrounded on three sides by high peaks. Explore green city parks, modern restaurants, giant squares and countless museums, and a visit to the beautifully located Khor Virap monastery offers you enchanting views of Mount Ararat. The absolute recommendation of the city is the National Genocide Momument which opened in 1995. There is an eternal flame burning for the 1.5 million people who were killed during the genocide. Many dignitaries visited this place, including presidents and breaks.
From Yerevan, the city of Echmiatsin, the religious centre of Armenia, is easy to reach. Echmiatsin is a holy city for Armenians and is also called the Vatican of Armenia.
