It was Mathieu's dream to show the family a piece of South Africa. A dream come true. In mid-December 2014 the time had come.
The first three days we were spoiled at Nkaya Game Lodge in the Kruger National Park, where we came up short during the game drives. Some animal species such as elephant and rhinoceros even showed their offspring. After all, it is summer there in December.
After a very pleasant stay we said goodbye to everyone and took a domestic flight to Port Elizabeth to continue the journey with a rental car towards Cape Town. We drove the garden route along the Indian and Atlantic Ocean with overnight stays in beautiful guesthouses. Lairds Lodge and Moonstruck on Pringle Bay in particular were wonderful places to stay. Along the way we also visited the special nature reserve 'De Hoop Nature' with its beautiful dune landscapes.
Via the Cape of Good Hope we eventually ended up in Cape Town. We stayed in excellent Guesthouse Welgelegen with a view of Table Mountain. We were so lucky that on Boxing Day Table Mountain was clear of clouds and we could go up with the cable car. What a view!
The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and the Franschhoek vineyards were also well worth a visit.
In short, a trip that we thoroughly enjoyed thanks to your good organization and advice.
Fortunately we still have the pictures. We cherish the memories...
A warm greeting from
Mathieu – Jose – Noor – Sophieke
