Oldest building of Ethiopia
In Yeha,a farming hamlet in the highlands, you will find ethiopia's oldest building: the ruins of the Temple of the Moon. The rectangular and ten-metre tall building – whose roof and upper floor did not stand the test of time – is about 2500 years old. The inner walls are constructed from large blocks of limestone. This is said to have happened because the Sabanen – from present-day Yemen – built on the idea that you could flood the buildings with water without losing a single drop. Little is known about these Sabanen. Scientists wonder what kind of civilization this must have been that could have built such structures centuries before christ's birth.
