Bird wealth in Senegal
The Saloum Delta is so rich in fauna and flora that it is also called the 'Amazon of Africa'. It is an area with many islands, mangrove forests and 'tans' (sand formations), a true paradise for oysters, shrimp and large fish such as barracuda. Also the amount of birds is overwhelming and hugely varied. By canoe you can explore the bolongs (sea arms), which are an ideal habitat for rich animal life. You can also visit some Serere villages surrounded by mango and cashew nut fields.
