Train journeys through the tea fields
No rush, no time. Slowly, very slowly, the train crawls along the mountains. Time blows by the breeze that flutters into the wagon through the large open windows. The window functions like a large screen, on which the film is titled 'Sri Lanka' is played. Tea fields extend to the horizon. Women in colorful saris pluck their baskets and barely look up from the passing train. Here and there a waterfall snaddles down the rocks. What you see here is not a projection, but is real.
Unlike on the roads, there is peace on the track. At least, in the first-class coupe. From Colombo, passengers can travel in all directions by train. But it is mainly the route from Kandy to the south, between Nuwara Eliya and Ella, whose travelers become quiet. Every now and then the image goes black. But the tunnels are short, and on the other hand the landscape seems even more beautiful.
