Authentic villages and colourful markets
Mozambique's fascinating culture is a mix of different influences, from African and Arabic to Portuguese and Indian influences. You will still find settlements in Mozambique with typical Portuguese and Arab buildings. In the restaturants you can enjoy delicious fish dishes with the homemade piri piri. In the countryside there are small settlements, the original Africa. Villages with mud & thatched houses, small markets and women in colourful robes. When you're driving a self-drive through Mozambique, you should definitely stop at a market along the way. The locals are particularly friendly and smiley. The mainland is not visited by tourists much: you are a welcome guest!
