Lodge far from the inhabited world
"Just below the monastery, Phobjikha Valley, The Kingdom of Bhutan". See here the address of the Gangtey Goenpa Lodge. It couldn't be more precise. Far from the inhabited world, a monastery is the only landmark between the mountains and deserted valleys of Bhutan. The Gangtey Goenpa Lodge is a treasure in the hills like a needle in a haystack.
This location was not just found. From Paro, a six-hour trek awaits on bumpy roads and dirt tracks. But also an immersion in Bhutan, a dive into its nature and a leap in its rich cultural history awaits. Because from the lounge, with floor-to-ceiling windows, you can see the wooded mountains that rise mightily around the lodge.
Unlike the seventeenth-century monasteries in the valley, the Gangtey Goenpa Lodge is a source of luxury and modernity. The architecture of the lodge is based on the traditional farms of the valley. But inside, the old wood-burning stoves get reinforcement from underfloor heating. The twelve luxury suites all have their own wood-burning stove and seating area. They also have a chic bathtub. Right in front of the high window. And in an area so remote, curtains are not necessary. Waste of the beautiful view.
