Where two worlds meet

The landscapes in the border area with China are breathtakingly beautiful. You walk between high mountains and through misty valleys along a mosaic of rice terraces, which stands out beautifully in the rugged landscape. Women in brightly coloured headscarves and braided baskets remain on their backs as you walk across the path. They hesitate for a moment, but curiosity prevails. Two worlds meet, the ice is broken quickly.

Particularly colourful costumes reveal which group someone belongs to, but it is the nuances in the traditional lifestyle that determine the identity of each people. On foot you can discover the cultural richness of northern Vietnam, in a world far from hip trends and electronic gadgets. From Sapa you can make day trips from the comfort of a good hotel. However, a longer trek in more remote areas makes your introduction to different mountain peoples more intense and authentic.

Guest with a local family

During a homestay you are a guest of a local family. Three or four generations live under one roof, everyone helps with the daily tasks around the house. For a moment you are part of the household. An intimate glimpse into life in this corner of Vietnam, and you will experience no-frills hospitality: pure, sincere and heartwarming.
