Sunny Destinations in Winter: December–February
The winter months are ideal for escaping the cold and discovering sunny destinations . In Thailand , ancient temples, colorful markets, and tropical islands go hand in hand. Chile and Argentina offer spectacular nature with glaciers, mountain peaks, and vast landscapes in Patagonia. In Panama, colonial cities, rainforests, and tropical beaches alternate during a road trip by rental car. Costa Rica, on the other hand, is known for its volcanoes, cloud forests, and rich wildlife, including sloths, monkeys, and toucans. A combination trip to Barbados and Saint Lucia offers the perfect mix of Caribbean charm, beautiful nature, and relaxation.
Cold winter destinations: December–February
There are also plenty of options for families looking for a special winter experience. If you want to ring in the New Year in a unique way, you can celebrate New Year’s Eve in Japan or opt for a winter trip to Niseko, where you’ll experience centuries-old traditions and modern cities. For a fairytale-like winter setting, Finnish Lapland and Sweden are ideal destinations, with snow-covered forests, husky tours, and cozy evenings. A trip to the far north also offers the chance to admire the magical Northern Lights.
Spring: March–May
The spring invites from to blooming landscapes to explore, animals to to mock en knowledge to make with local traditions. For Belgian families, the two-week Easter break is also an ideal time to thoroughly explore a faraway destination. Travel through the temples and bustling cities of South Korea, explore the jungles and archaeological sites of Guatemala and Belize or discover the many facets of Suriname. Thanks to the pleasant temperatures and the mix of culture, nature, and adventure, there’s plenty to do during these months. There are also plenty of options closer to home; discover the colorful culture and varied landscapes of Morocco, enjoy nature and family-friendly activities in Denmark, or admire Norway’s impressive fjords .
Summer outside Europe: June–August
Summer vacation is the perfect time for a longer family trip, with plenty of time to explore a destination in depth and combine different regions. However, summer isn’t the ideal travel season everywhere: while temperatures can soar or the rainy season can pose challenges in some places, other destinations are actually at their best during this time. Think of the impressive Avatar Mountains in China, the islands of Indonesia, or the best of Western Canada.
