Enchanting city with fine atmosphere
The picturesque capital of Portugal is built on seven hills, each with spectacular views over the city and the River Tajo. The unmistakable charm can be found everywhere in this old town. Bright yellow centenarian trams rattle their way up steep cobbled streets. In the labyrinthine and bustling Alfama district at the foot of São Jorge's Moorish castle, elegant terraces are set beneath ornate balconies filled with bougainvillea. Lisbon offers an abundance of museums, galleries and beautiful buildings. In addition, the city is known for its vibrant culinary scene. In the Belém district there are plenty of places to enjoy a cup of coffee with a "pastel de nata" overlooking 16th-century Torre de Belém or the many houses decorated with colourful tiles.
